I moved to Palm Springs, from Minneapolis in 2009 and even though I had brought my studio lights and backdrops, I soon realized that Mother Nature provides all the light that I need.
I saw a big sand dune on the way into town out near the windmills. Inspired by the movie "Singing in the Rain" in the dream sequences where Gene Kelly whisks Cyd Charise off to a soundstage with a 15-yard scarf wrapped around her neck and giant fans blowing the scarf, I also got 15-yard lengths of fabric for my dancers to work. After a while, those lengths of fabric needed to be laundered. I was walking past the pool in my apartment building and decided to wash the material there. And then when I looked down, I saw the magic that the water created. That summer, I threw everyone I could into the pool and made them swim in the fabric. The photos you see have no photoshop except to brighten. That is the magic of water. After shooting both Wind and Water, I realized I was being led on a path to create the Four Elements, so I took a trip around the country getting hot guys naked everywhere. Below are the "Greatest Hits" of The Four Elements. You can explore much deeper in the "etc..." section of the website: Wind, Water, Earth and Fire.
