About the Artist:
Terry Hastings
Terry Hastings is a Palm Springs–based artist working across photography and digital collage. With roots in fashion and theatre, his multidisciplinary practice explores movement, color, and identity through layered compositions that merge spontaneity with structured design.
Hastings’ work includes the award-winning Water series, minimalist digital pieces developed during the COVID-19 lockdown, and narrative photocollages that bridge cinematic aesthetics with contemporary themes. He has exhibited at the Palm Springs Art Museum, Riverside Art Museum, and Brownsville Museum of Fine Art, with media coverage including features in The Desert Sun and Palm Springs Life.
His recent focus includes the Four Elements photographic series, digital minimalist compositions, and teaching AI-based tools for artistic promotion.
Terry Hastings grew up in the small town of Jordan, Minnesota, where early passions for rhythm and storytelling found expression through piano, drums, and the high school speech team. Graduating as salutatorian, he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre at California State University, Northridge. There, his artistic voice expanded through acting, directing, and even composing original musical theatre pieces.
After returning to Minnesota, Hastings opened a clothing store in Minneapolis—an entrepreneurial chapter that unexpectedly sparked his love for photography in 2003. What began as a curious click of the shutter soon grew into a vibrant visual practice rooted in composition, narrative, and emotion.
In 2009, he relocated to Palm Springs, where his artistic journey fully flourished. The desert’s stark light, cinematic skies, and gleaming poolscapes became both backdrop and muse. Today, his work spans photography and digital art, blending theatrical roots with minimalist aesthetics, spontaneity with thoughtful structure.
