desert artifacts
My work grows out of the California desert, where nothing is perfect and everything is shaped by wind, heat, erosion, and time. I build vessels, relics, and sculptural objects that carry the memory of this landscape: cracked, asymmetrical, sun‑washed, and alive. Rejecting the tyranny of symmetry, I let the clay move the way the desert moves: drifting, warping, resisting control. These are modern artifacts of a place that has lived a thousand lives, shaped by geology, mythology, and the quiet rebellion of imperfection.
On your next trip to the Coachella Valley, set aside some time and schedule a personal visit to Salon al Fresco, my open‑air home studio in Cathedral City. I’ve shaped the courtyard into a relaxed viewing space where you can spend unhurried time with the work: tea, conversation, and the desert light creating a slow, welcoming encounter with contemporary ceramics.
