This is the origin point of everything I make. Before the ceramics, before the digital artifacts, before the time‑slipping mythology of Desert ARTifacts, there were photographs — elemental, raw, and full of the human presence that still shapes my work. Photography taught me how to see the desert through its Four Elements: the heat of Fire, the stillness of Earth, the shimmer of Water, and the vast, open breath of Air.

These images are the first artifacts — the early explorations of bodies, pools, dunes, storms, and the strange, beautiful tension between Palm Springs modernism and ancient desert geology. In these photographs, you can see the beginnings of everything that followed: the textures that became clay, the atmospheres that became digital worlds.
