I was here first. Perfectly aligned, perfectly white, casting the kind of shadow architects dream about. Then he shows up—dripping, glistening, all limbs and leisure—kneeling at the edge like he’s deciding whether to dry off or dive back in. I don’t flinch. I don’t need to. I’ve seen it all: cannonballs, confessions, questionable tan lines. But this one? He pauses. He breathes. He almost sits. And then he doesn’t.
I remain unoccupied. But not unnoticed.
