Montgomery Municipal Golf Course – East Hallway, near the retired trophy shelf Hanging with modest pride between a vintage scorecard and a bulletin for Senior Tee Bingo, Dew Sweepers glows like the early morning optimism of a foursome wearing matching visors.

Caddy Patty McHadderson, resident gear sherpa and unofficial philosopher of the green, pauses mid-cleaning of her ball washer and offers her take.

PATTY (adjusting her sun visor with ceremony) “Oh, that piece? That’s a 5:42 AM kind of painting. Colors like that only happen when the mist is still gossiping with the grass. See that green band? That’s hole six before the maintenance crew wakes up. The blue stripe? That’s the sky deciding if it wants to be benevolent or ruin someone’s short game.”

(She gestures toward the yellow stretch with reverence.) “That band right there—pure optimism. That’s when your client sinks a putt he shouldn’t have and starts tipping early.”

She leans closer like confiding secrets only known to seasoned caddies. “We dew sweepers live in those hues. Before the coffee hits, before the divots get dramatic. That painting? It’s our unofficial flag. Hung just high enough to remind folks: beauty shows up when nobody’s watching. Especially if you walk the course instead of ride.”

It’s not about competition. It’s about communion—with the land, the light, the ritual. You’re not just playing through—you’re sweeping the dew, writing the first line of the day across a field that still remembers sleep.
