A man stands in a bathroom, fragmented by reflection and rearranged by memory. Over 200 photographs converge in this Cubist study, where socks, tank top, and mirror angles become visual counterpoint. The heart-shaped wall ornament and towel ring echo the emotional geometry—intimate, architectural, and quietly theatrical. Not a portrait. Not a performance. Just a moment of presence, staged in shards.

Terry Hastings’ photocollages are choreographies of time, space, and identity—constructed from dozens of sequential photographs and assembled with Cubist precision. Inspired by David Hockney’s “Joiners,” these works reject the single-frame illusion in favor of multiplicity: each image is a composite of moments, gestures, and shifting perspectives.

Rather than flattening time, Hastings fractures it. Figures multiply, environments distort, and motion becomes architecture. The technique echoes Cubism’s analytical eye—breaking down form to reveal hidden rhythms—while staging each subject with theatrical clarity and emotional resonance. Whether playful, surreal, or meditative, these collages invite viewers to witness not just a scene, but a performance unfolding across time.
