He’s not just getting dressed—he’s staging a scene. Red Light captures one man mid-transformation, limbs flying, shirt half-on, pants half-off, and attitude fully activated. Fragmented into misaligned slices, the collage turns a private moment into a visual striptease: messy, moody, and unmistakably hot. Bathed in crimson glow, the room becomes a boudoir of becoming. Is he leaving? Arriving? Or just making daddy wait? Terry Hastings turns the everyday into drama, the dressing room into a stage, and the body into a punchline with perfect lighting.

Terry Hastings’ photocollages are choreographies of time, space, and identity—constructed from dozens of sequential photographs and assembled with Cubist precision. Inspired by David Hockney’s “Joiners,” these works reject the single-frame illusion in favor of multiplicity: each image is a composite of moments, gestures, and shifting perspectives.

Rather than flattening time, Hastings fractures it. Figures multiply, environments distort, and motion becomes architecture. The technique echoes Cubism’s analytical eye—breaking down form to reveal hidden rhythms—while staging each subject with theatrical clarity and emotional resonance. Whether playful, surreal, or meditative, these collages invite viewers to witness not just a scene, but a performance unfolding across time.
