A teacup, a bowl of berries, a dangling tea bag—and a body as the table. Tea Time is a still life with a pulse, part of Terry Hastings’ “I’m Hungry” series, where appetite meets anatomy in deliciously surreal compositions. The porcelain gleams, the berries pop, and the human form anchors the ritual with quiet theatricality.

This isn’t just a snack—it’s a staging. Like Mapplethorpe’s floral provocations, Hastings uses domestic objects to tease erotic tension and compositional control. Tea Time invites viewers to sip slowly, look closely, and savor the absurd elegance of a moment where the body becomes both host and surface.
