Reflecting Pool shows the flag only as a submerged reflection, never as the object itself. The real flag — the one raised, flown, witnessed, argued over — sits entirely outside the frame. What we see instead is its wavering image drifting underwater, distorted by light, depth, and movement. That absence becomes the point: the symbol is present only as a reflection, a memory, a consequence of something no longer visible. In this piece, patriotism, identity, and national meaning are filtered through water, where clarity dissolves and certainty bends. Reflecting Pool asks the viewer to consider whether the reflection is truer than the object, and whether the world we think we know is already upside down before we even look.
