Not So Gay

You might not see Terry Hastings in these works. But he’s there—in the tree, the watertower, the cactus, the color. These aren’t hidden parts. They’re other parts: introspective, childlike, worldly, intellectual. Just as a person is more than their sexuality, Terry’s art is more than just about being gay.

If the “Gay” work is Terry at the pool—covered in sunscreen, keeping himself hydrated, then this is Terry at the computer. Sitting quietly. Sipping tea.
